Established in 2016, the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at Carnegie Mellon University-Africa (CMU-Africa) is a fully funded scholarship designed to support talented young Africans who face significant social and economic barriers to education. The program aims to develop transformative leaders who will contribute to meaningful change across the continent. The scholarship is for pursuing Master of Science degrees in Information Technology (MSIT), Electrical and Computer Engineering (MS ECE), or Engineering Artificial Intelligence (MS EAI).
Eligibility:
- Applicants must first gain admission to one of CMU-Africa’s degree programs.
- Key eligibility criteria include demonstrating academic talent, a commitment to improving their communities, and leadership potential.
Benefits:
- The scholarship is comprehensive, covering full tuition, living stipends, travel costs, a laptop, study materials, accommodation, and health insurance.
- Scholars also receive support for application preparation, orientation, project and entrepreneurship initiatives, and leadership development.
Deadline: The application deadline for the 2026 intake is January 15, 2026, with an earlier deadline of December 15 for test fee coverage.
