Three fully funded scholarships are offered by GSK to support the training and development of the next generation of global health leaders in Africa. The scholarships enable talented African nationals to undertake a one-year, full-time Master’s degree program at the prestigious London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine (LSHTM).
Financial Benefits
This is a fully funded scholarship that covers all essential costs, including:
- Full Tuition Fees: Covers the complete tuition for the chosen Master’s program.
- Living Stipend: A tax-free stipend of £19,500 to cover living expenses in London.
- Project Allowance: Up to £2,000 for a Master’s project.
- Flights: Round-trip airfare from the student’s home country to the UK.
- Other Costs: Funding for mandatory field trips and allowances for MSc summer project expenses.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered:
- Nationality: Must be a national of and resident in a sub-Saharan African country.
- Academic Admission: Must have been accepted into one of the eligible one-year, full-time MSc programs at LSHTM.
- Commitment: Must commit to returning to a sub-Saharan African country upon completion of the MSc program.
- Financial Need: Must demonstrate financial need.
- Academic Merit: Must possess a first or upper-second class honors degree (or equivalent).

- MSc Health Policy, Planning & Financing

Application Process
- Application Deadline: The deadline for scholarship applications is March 4, 2026.
- How to Apply: The application process involves two steps:
- Apply for Admission: First, candidates must apply for admission to one of the three eligible MSc programs at LSHTM for the 2026-2027 academic year.
- Apply for Scholarship: Once an offer of admission is received, candidates can submit a separate application for the GSK scholarship through the LSHTM scholarships portal.
- Winner Announcement: Scholarship winners are typically notified by the end of May.
