The American Express Leadership Academy, in partnership with the global non-profit Common Purpose, is a transformative leadership development program for senior leaders in the non-profit sector. For over a decade, the Academy has aimed to strengthen the sector by building the capacity of its leaders to navigate complexity, drive change, and increase their impact.
The program is a six-month leadership journey that blends online workshops with an immersive in-person gathering. It is designed to be highly interactive and practical, connecting participants with a diverse peer group and insights from cross-sector leaders.
Program Benefits

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- Role: Be a senior leader, currently in or identified for a future executive role.
- Sector: Work for a registered non-profit organization.
- Location: Reside within the Americas region.
- Influence: Hold a role that requires you to accelerate your ability to influence inside and outside your organization.
- Mindset: Have a track record of innovation, embrace change, and want to transform your team, organization, and community.
- Commitment: Be able to fully commit to all parts of the six-month program, including the in-person Academy and online sessions.
Application Process
- Application Deadline: December 8, 2025.
- In-Person Academy Dates: March 17-20, 2026, in New York City.
