Obama Foundation Leaders Program 2026–2027

The Obama Foundation Leaders Program is a transformative six-month, non-residential leadership development journey for emerging changemakers. The program aims to inspire, empower, and connect leaders from Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the United States, providing them with the tools and network to accelerate their impact.

Participants engage in a series of virtual sessions, workshops, and community groups, culminating in an in-person convening. The curriculum focuses on strengthening leadership skills, fostering a values-based approach to leadership, and building a global community of practice dedicated to creating positive change.

Financial Benefits

This is a fully funded opportunity for selected participants.

  • No Program Cost: The program is offered free of charge to all selected leaders.
  • Covered Travel: Airfare, accommodation, and meals for the in-person convening are fully covered by the Obama Foundation.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Citizenship/Residency: Must be a citizen or permanent resident of an eligible country within one of the four program regions (Africa, Asia-Pacific, Europe, U.S.).
  • Age: Typically between 24 and 45 years old.
  • Experience: Must have at least three years of demonstrated experience making a positive impact in their community or field.
  • Commitment: Must be professionally proficient in English and able to commit to the full six-month program duration.
  • Vision: Must have a clear commitment to creating positive change and a desire to lead in their community.

Application Process

Application Deadline: Application windows vary by region but are typically announced in the preceding year. The cycle for the 2026-2027 programs is expected to open in late 2025.

The application is submitted online and includes essays, a video submission, and details about your work and leadership experience.
